Misunderstood

I edited and mixed this recording in my home studio and it is on my self-produced EP 'The Music of Dana-Marie Vol. 1' released July 2009.   This track can be purchased in the MP3 Store.

The piano was recorded by audio technician Brian Marchant, at St. John's Anglican Church in Squamish, BC. We were at the church on a mission to record "Fallen" on the grand piano so that we could have it on time for the shooting of the music video three days later. When I wrote this song, I wasn't planning to do much with it, but then I happened to play it in between takes of 'Fallen' and when I got home and listened back to it, I decided to play with it.

I added the vocal harmonies, as well as layered a new main vocal over the old one, then I added the strings and bass on my keyboard. I recently started playing with some guitar with this which adds a whole new dimension to the song but it's not ready to share. I hope you enjoy it so far.

LYRICS

Misunderstood is what you say
unsure why it's so easy to portray
this weary sad
reflective mad
shell of existence
it seems so wrong
but they're so consistent
though you are not what they think

My sentiment has grown wary
there's too much space
between your queries
are you next in line?
do you have the time
to waste?
do you have a poem to paste up
on the soggy leaking walls
of my heart?
cause you know they'll fall off

So move over and make room
I like your gloom
I want to sit here without remark
I want to sit and enjoy your dark
and not budge,
not move,
not cry,
not live,
not die,
hi... how are you?
who... who are we?
